Cricket faces IPL challenge

IPL season 3 auctions brought in what hasn't been witnessed in the of spirit of cricket. Pakistani players 'deliberately' been not chosen. Reasons will not go to justify the way we see cricket. It will only infuse bitterness into the game and players. We must at all cost desist from such mixing up of things and let the game be played in true spirits.

How many us believe that the game of cricket is the same? I presume - opinions got to be divided across age and class. Yes! choices are many and so explorable that we want enjoy it in every form. Ha! who gives a damn to the ' copy book style'. Time just gives the permission to entertain myself - we can't wait for five days watching the same thing for a result.......Alas!

Critics may say, it is just a form a game. If you enjoy, watch it. Right - there are many takers for this and it has been going quite well giving entertainment and business. BCCI has been 'minting' money since the IPL season, did I read it right - A Rs 2000 crore industry. Wow! where does the money come from and go....

I wonder! Is it an elitist form cricket. Players are being auctioned in $millions. Actors and top businessmen, thanks not politicians are buying Teams as if it a commercially lucrative investment with bright future returns - even global recession could not melt them down.

Time tested, we have not our passion for ODIs and Tests. T20 may be a new beginning, but its not an end to the older forms of cricket. A day and night India-Pakistan ODI match would still be thrilling. The fast changing world does pose a challenge and its to seen how long.
